Steve L. Davis

Living and working in California for many years, I am profoundly inspired by the abundant nature that surrounds me. The beautiful California coast, the rugged mountains and the historic structures all provide a rich sensual resource for my work. Each piece is a visual synthesis of the natural beauty I experience daily.

Born and raised in Texas, my journey into art began early in life, As a boy I had a passion for drawing cathedrals, fantasy cars and rocket ships. Later, inspired by the Wyeth family and mentored by Michael Barnes, I found plein air and studio landscape painting which has captivated me ever since.

Life is not constant and neither is art. It's been my great fortune to live, travel and paint in many parts of the United States. I see my work as a testament to the ever-changing rhythms of life and the constants of the natural world. As a painter, my work is shaped by where I've been and where I am now as I continue to explore and evolve through oil and canvas.
